Arizer Air 2 vs Arizer Air – Paternal Struggle

Updated: October 6, 2023
If you’re wondering how the Arizer Air 2 compares to original Arizer Air, you’re in the right place. We’ve already reviewed the new Air 2, but that hasn’t stopped people from asking how these two portable vaporizers compare. You asked, we’re answering…

Vapor Quality Tie Between Arizer Air 2 And Arizer Air Vaporizer

Vapor Quality

Arizer has a stellar reputation when it comes to vapor quality. They’ve never put out anything that even remotely disappoints, and all of their units are consistently near the top of people’s lists when they’re talking about the vaporizers with the highest vapor quality.

That makes it pretty hard to make noticeable improvements from one generation to the next. With that being said, the Solo 2 managed to outperform the notoriously great vapor of the original Solo, so we let ourselves hope that we would see similar improvements to the Air 2.

In this case, the improvements aren’t so drastic. A lot of people could probably use this and not notice any difference at all. The precision temperature control also allows you to adjust the vapor to a finer degree.

The good news is that even though there isn’t that much difference between the two, they both offer fantastic vapor that is already a lot better than most other options out there.

Manufacturing Quality Of Arizer Air 2

Manufacturing Quality

This is another category where Arizer has a great track record. Their portable vaporizers can take a serious beating without showing much wear. I take pretty good care of my units, but I’ve actually never once had to replace anything from Arizer except glass.

In this case though, they managed to make big improvements from one generation to the next. You can basically expect all the things you liked about the Air but add bigger and better performance.

One thing that I already touched on is the precision temperature control. Part of this is a digital screen to display the temperature and battery life. These are definitely nice upgrades, but those aren’t the only changes.

The heater also seems to be more powerful because the Air 2 heats up faster than the Air. Depending on the level you choose, the Air 2 can reach the selected temp around 20 to 30 seconds faster. If you’ve ever used a vaporizer before, you know that the time spent sitting and waiting for the unit to get hot can be very frustrating, so this is a good improvement.

Ease Of Use Arizer Air 2 VaporizerEase of Use

You may feel differently, but I don’t find either one of these easier to use than the other. That may seem weird considering the Air 2 has a digital screen.

While I like the screen and think it’s a nice upgrade, I don’t think it really affects the ease of use. With either one, it only takes a couple of seconds to turn it on and select a temperature. Loading the chamber is identical.

You may find the Air 2 easier if you have a difficult time remembering what temperature the light color corresponds to on the original.

Portability Tie Between Arizer Air 2 Vs Arizer Air Vaporizers

Portability

At a glance, you may assume that there is no difference between these two in terms of portability. They’re essentially identical in terms of size, and they both use the same Arizer Air aroma tube.

They also both have removeable 18650s that allow you to increase the battery life by carrying an extra with you. The difference is that the Air 2 uses a more powerful 18650 and gets better battery life, which I’ll talk about in the next section.

For either of these, I think you need a vaporizer case to carry it around.

Excellent Battery Arizer Air 2 Vaporizer

Battery Life

The original Air can get up to a full hour of continuous use on a fully charged battery. Depending on how long you use it each time you turn it on, this translates to between 5 and 10 sessions. If your average session is about 10 minutes, you’d get 6 sessions.

With the more powerful battery, the Air 2 gets between an hour and twenty minutes and an hour and a half per charge. This translates to up to 50% more life per charge.

Discreetness

These are identical in terms of discreetness. They didn’t make any notable changes to the size or shape from one generation to the next, and they both rely on the glass stems.

I personally don’t find either to be very discreet for that matter. You can certainly manage to be inconspicuous with them, but there are better options out there.

Temperature Flexibility Of Arizer Air 2 Vaporizer

Temperature Flexibility

The original Air only has 5 temperature presets to choose between. These are indicated by the color of the LED light above the up and down buttons. As expected, the up and down buttons are used to change between temperature levels. The range is about 180°C / 356°F to 210°C / 410°F, but that varies depending on the age of the specific unit.

As discussed above, the Air 2 now has full temperature control, complete with a digital screen. You can adjust the temperature in degree increments between 50°C / 122°F and 220°C / 428°F. You can also adjust the temperature in 10 degree increments.

Winner Vaporizer Of Arizer Air 2

SHOWDOWN

When it comes to the Arizer Air 2 vs Arizer Air, the Air 2 is our winner!

It’s a definite improvement over the original Air, although the difference isn’t as impressive as the Solo 2 compared to the Solo. While the Air 2 offers better vapor quality than the Air, I would have like to see a bigger difference in the draw resistance and potentially thicker clouds as well.

The other changes are very nice though. The battery life is better, it heats up faster, and you get full temperature control.

If you have an Air already, I don’t know that any of these improvements change the amount of enjoyment you’ll get enough to warrant buying the Air 2.

If you don’t have an Air and you want one of these two vaporizers, then it definitely makes sense to go with the Air 2.
